Anna Le:
Central Catholic High School
| |
Anna Le is a senior at Central Catholic High School. She plans on
attending Oregon State University, and then transferring to either
Pacific University or University of Puget Sound. There she plans on
studying to become a Physical Therapist. Being half Asian and half
white, she grew up with an Asian culture, and is very proud of her
culture. As a child she went to a Vietnamese Sunday school every
weekend, where she learned how to read and write in Vietnamese. When she
was eleven, she went to Viet Nam, where she met the other half of her
family for the first time. Throughout high school, Anna has been active
in her school, church, and community. She enjoys helping others, and in
her spare time hanging out with friends and family.
She grew up helping out her grandparents with the St. Vincent de Paul’s
Food Bank. In her senior year, she started volunteering weekly,
handing out food boxes to the people of her community. She has also
helped out with ESL (English as a Second Language), where she assisted
in teaching others how to speak, read, and write in English. Anna also
enjoys working with children. For the last four summers she has
volunteered as a counselor at an all girl week long day camp. This last
summer, she trained middle school girls to become counselors the
following summer.
Anna is also very involved in her school. She has been in various clubs
such as the Diversity Club, Students Against Destructive Decisions and
Walking for the Rams. For the last two years, she has been a Eucharistic
Minister at her school. This year, Anna has co-founded and is the
co-president of the Asian and Pacific Islander Club.
Last year was the first year that Central Catholic went to the Asian
American Youth Leadership Conference. Anna enjoyed it thoroughly and
gained a lot from it. This year she decided to become an ambassador
because she enjoyed it so much the previous year, and because she wishes
to meet and make many new friends and involve more people from her
school in it.
