Antony Nguyen:
Benson High School

Antony Nguyen is a senior at Benson High School. He currently is in the
Photography and Video Field in the Communications Department. His post
high school plans are to attend Portland Community College to obtain his
Associates Degree, and then transfer to Portland State University to
pursue a degree in Business.
Antony has lived in Portland all his life; he is the youngest of his
three brothers and two sisters. The majority of his inspiration comes
from his parents who have taught him that anything is possible, and to
follow his dreams. He regularly attends church every Sunday and has been
enrolled at his Church's Sunday school since the sixth grade. Antony has
learned how to read and write in Vietnamese, as well as learn about his
religion by attending Sunday school. He has also been given the
opportunity to attend a retreat in which he has networked with his peers
and learned more about himself. Throughout the past year, Antony has
been active in his Church's youth group, Holy Trinity where he dedicates
his time towards helping his church and improving the community.
During his spare time, Antony loves playing basketball, and in addition
is co-captain of his Chinese American Citizens Alliance (CACA)
recreational basketball team. He enjoys spending time with his friends
and family and finds pleasure from capturing priceless moments with his
camera.
Last year was Antony's first time at the AAYLC. He had such a great
experience that he wanted to come back this year as ambassador, and
influence his peers to experience the AAYLC, and learn the importance of
leadership.
