Carol Pengshung:
David Douglas High School

Carol Pengshung is a 4.00 GPA student who has lived in Portland, Oregon
all her life. She hopes to someday travel throughout Asia to fully
experience the rich culture and traditions enrooted there. She is
currently a junior at David Douglas High School and enjoys being
actively involved in her school and community. Some of her activities
include: the Japanese Club, Invisible Children, Key Club International,
National Honor Society, Concert Strings Orchestra, and Symphony
Orchestra. While devoting a considerable amount of time volunteering at
Adventist Medical Center and the Midland library, she also finds time to
help out with various other volunteer projects such as neighborhood
clean-ups, the Children’s Healing Art Project, and the school districts
Kids Closet.
Ever since Carol’s freshman year in high school, she has increasingly
developed her leadership abilities and is passionate about leadership.
She is currently the Lieutenant Governor for Key Club Division 60/62 and
a Team Captain for the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life. She has
also graduated from the 2008 Civic Engagement and Leadership Training
Program.
So far, Carol has attended the Asian American Youth Leadership
Conference two times and plans on returning for her third and fourth
time this year and next year. As an ambassador, Carol aspires to connect
with a wide range of Asian American youth and to inspire them to use
their knowledge to lead and serve the community.
