Tejaswini Reddy:

Teja Reddy is a sophomore at Health & Science High School. She is an
active member in school and the community including tennis at Westview,
Model United Nations, Leaders-In-Training program and Mayor's Youth
Advisory Board (MYAB). From MYAB, she has worked with other high school
students to make a successful City of Beaverton Youth Summit. In 2007,
she won the "Ashley Shamberger Award" for excellence in school and
community service.
Teja has been involved with non-profit organizations such as SOLV
(Stopping Oregon Litter and Vandalism) and LCREP (Lower Columbia River
Estuary Project). Through MYAB, she has completed community service
hours from residency homes like Alterra-Clare Bridge, Maryville
Residency Home, etc. She also has an interest in science and qualified
to attend NWSE (Northwest Science Expo) three times where she was
awarded for her science research.
Teja was part of an independent film shot in Portland called Papers (www.papersthemovie.com).
This film has to do with immigration reform, the DREAM act and
undocumented youth. She was able to promote this film with elected
officials and youth delegates at the National League of Cities
conference at Washington DC this past March.
This is Teja's second year attending the conference as a student
ambassador. She hopes to attend this conference throughout her high
school career. Her goal is to help gain leadership skills and knowledge
of other Asian Americans perspectives and heritage.
