Tejaswini Reddy
:
Health & Science
High School, Beaverton

Teja Reddy is a sophomore at Health & Science High School. She is an active member in school and the community including tennis at Westview, Model United Nations, Leaders-In-Training program and Mayor's Youth Advisory Board (MYAB). From MYAB, she has worked with other high school students to make a successful City of Beaverton Youth Summit. In 2007, she won the "Ashley Shamberger Award" for excellence in school and community service.

Teja has been involved with non-profit organizations such as SOLV (Stopping Oregon Litter and Vandalism) and LCREP (Lower Columbia River Estuary Project). Through MYAB, she has completed community service hours from residency homes like Alterra-Clare Bridge, Maryville Residency Home, etc. She also has an interest in science and qualified to attend NWSE (Northwest Science Expo) three times where she was awarded for her science research.

Teja was part of an independent film shot in Portland called Papers (www.papersthemovie.com). This film has to do with immigration reform, the DREAM act and undocumented youth. She was able to promote this film with elected officials and youth delegates at the National League of Cities conference at Washington DC this past March.

This is Teja's second year attending the conference as a student ambassador. She hopes to attend this conference throughout her high school career. Her goal is to help gain leadership skills and knowledge of other Asian Americans perspectives and heritage.
