Helen
Ying is an assistant principal at Parkrose High School. She holds a
Master in Education degree from Portland State University. Helen has
been active in the community serving in various capacities over the
years rallying for the causes of civil rights, leadership development,
and community service. She was a member of the INS Community Roundtable
member from 2002 to 2004. She has also been a member of the COSA
Scholarship committee since 2002. As a founding member of the Portland
Chinese Christian and Missionary Alliance Church in 1975, she has served
on its Governing Board periodically for 20 years. Moreover, she is
currently on the Board of Directors for the Chinese American Citizens
Alliance, Portland Lodge after serving as its president from 1998 to
2003. Her service to the community extends beyond the boundary of the
United States, she taught English in China last summer for the China
Professional Services Program.
Helen has been a volunteer with the Asian American Youth Leadership
Conference since 1997. She served as the Program Committee Chair from
1997 to 2003. She is currently acting as an advisor to the Planning
Committee.
