Student Ambassador Program

For over 30 years, Asian American students from Southern Washington to Oregon have gathered for the annual Asian American Youth Leadership Conference (AAYLC). This one-day event continues to deepen students’ understanding and appreciation of Asian American history, culture, and contributions while fostering leadership and life skills in a supportive environment.

In 2025, we introduced an exciting restructuring effort that unified the roles of Student Ambassadors and the Student Planning Team into a single position. Now, one year later, this new structure has proven to strengthen our leadership program, streamline operations, and expand the impact of student involvement.

Structure Overview

  • Unified Role: The Student Ambassador position continues to encompass responsibilities from both former roles, giving students greater ownership in planning and outreach.

  • Cohort Size: A maximum of 40 Student Ambassadors are selected each year, ensuring a strong, focused team while fostering leadership across schools.

  • Eligibility: Juniors and seniors may apply, with returning Student Ambassadors encouraged to continue their involvement. Applications open each fall.

Eligibility Requirements

To qualify, applicants must:

  • Be a junior or senior in high school.
